Wilma Chan:
Doing OK after a Year

Assemblywoman Wilma Chan is doing more than holding her own in the Assembly seat she took from Audie Bock. She is receiving praise, if one can believe her press secretary.

Former Alameda County Supervisor, Wilma Chan, defeated the ill-fated incumbant Audie Bock for the seat once well by Elihu Harris and was given to Bock on a fluke. It has been one year since the former supervisor took over that seat. No switching of parties, strange money backing, and general incompetence and chaos of the Bock period of madness. Chan has quietly worked to establish herself and her constituency has allowed her to get about her work in the assembly.

After a year, the Chan camp is releasing press releases touting her accomplishments and record of endorsement. Although Gibbs has not looked into her record or too closely at Ms. Chan, we will be looking more closely this year at the Wilma Chan Assembly seat, how she is doing, where she is going, and her record to date.

With less time of Bock's era, she had turned over staff and had rebellion among her staff; she had alienated her base support of the Green Party, and shown herself ineffectual in the position. Since being out of office, she seemingly is craving for power and making ill-fated bidding, launching trial balloons to see who wants her, and just engaging in embarrassing acts that have gotten her further from the public's positive eye.

Wilma Chan seems to be another cup of tea, thank God. But, this year, Gibbs will look to see what type of tea she really is. []
