Why There are so Few Republicans!

Michael Steele , the outgoing Black Republican Party National Director, was asked by CNBM's Chris Matthews: Do blacks feel at home within the (Republican Party? and he laughed and responded, "We could have used a few more brothers in the house, there's no doubt about that." This was a good question and was given a partially honest answer. He has just been fired as the party’s director after two years. During those two years he was maligned, laughed at, and treated the way other Blacks are treated in the Republican Party and America! It is very hard for a Black person to function in the Republican Party; that truth has been borne out by other Blacks of renown who have attempted to function in this "white only" party--C.J. Watts, Colin Powell, Clarence_Thomas, Alan Keyes(1) , etc. They are treated as second rated participants. It was not a surprise when Steele was fired--it is what Republicans do. The question is why dothe few Blacks in the Republican Party think they are able to function any with dignity among Republicans. The party that once emancipated the slaves is no longer now willing to respect the children of those who were once freed! Have the Blacks who now court the Republicans not heard their platforms or seen those who speak for the partyy? This party that was once tolerant of others is now more bigoted than it ever was. That is what has happened to Republicans of the Rush Limbaugh generation. Yes, it would have been nice to have had a few more brothers in the party, but Republicans do not want them and will not allow "brothers" (2) to function in the Republican Party with dignity. That is why there are so few Black Republicans there. ___________________
