A Tenth-Grader Arrested for Gun at School

A tenth grade student was arrested by the San Francisco police for bringing a gun to school. The boy allegedly waved a semiautomatic pistol at students in a classroom in the McAteer High School.

The students who were threatened left school told their parents about the incident and the parents called the police, the Superintendent of the San Francisco Unified School District said.

At 10th grade, a student is usually 14-15 years old. There was no word on where this 15-year old child got the weapon, how he got it into the school, or why he felt a need to take a gun to school and threaten other students with it.

The student was expelled from school for a year--State law requires that. The problem of guns in the schools is a problem that doesn't seemingly go away. See Youths With Guns essay []
