The Great Soy Debate

Scientists are still trying to determine whether soy is good for us or bad for us. It was last year that the FDA allowed producers to make claims about soy in their products.

Some pros and cons on soy:

Pros
It contains plant estrogen which may block the formation of new blood vessels that tumors need to grow; soy protein lowers your bad cholesterol and maintains your good cholesterol; it may alleviate menopause symptons--the noted hot flashes and vaginal dryness.

Cons
Some experts believe that soy may aggravate certain types of cancers--breast and prostate cancers; there are fears that the soy's estrogen may lead to infertility; then there is the fear that soy may increase brain atrophy in men who have two or more servings of tofu a week.[]
