The Indomitable
Lions of Cameroon are still the best soccer team
in Africa after managing to reclaim the number
one spot in the latest Fifa/Coca-Cola world
soccer rankings.
Even though Cameroon
was the best team in Africa, it dropped a place
down on the world rankings to 18th.
The Black Stars of
Ghana who were third in the February 2007
rankings dislodged the Elephants of Cote
d'Ivoire to clinch the second spot. Ghana also
moved three places up into the 19th position on
the world ratings.
Mali was fourth
ahead of the Super Eagles of Nigeria, African
champions Egypt, Morocco, Senegal, Tunisia and
Burkina Faso.
The biggest movers
in Africa were Ethiopia who notched up four
places from 91st in the world while the Lions of
Teranga (Senegal) slid by seven places to number
45 in the world.
Argentina toppled
the world champions -Italy to become the best
team in the world for the first time. It rose
from number three to the top spot.
Italy only reigned
as the top world soccer team for a month after
displacing former world champions Brazil.
Zimbabwe moved
three places up the ladder from 94th to 91st in
the world.
