Republicans Reduce Their Losing
|

Keyes was recruited by Republicans to run against then Illinois State Senator Barack Obama for the US Senate seat . After former Governor Jack Ryan dropped out of the race because of his divorce disclosures of a sexual infidelities, the Republicans were unable to muster a credible candidate who would or could challenge Barack Obama. Alan Keyes, you will remember, is a Black Republican Conservative and a former UN Ambassador under Secretary of State under the Reagan Administration, who twice ran for the US Presidency and twice for US Senate on the Republican ticket--both times he was defeated; while running he declared that there was discrimination in the treatment he received while running After not being able to find anyone in Illinois who was credible and willing to run against Obama, the Republicans went outside of the state and came up with Alan Keyes, a big mistake! From that mistake, Onamba became president of the US and Keyes became a troubling Republican side show. Fast talking Alan Keyes had stated that he would not move to a state where he has no money and run unless the Republican Party supported him financially. In spite of his statement, Keyes he entered the race as the Republicans’ candidate and was shamefully defeated by Obama-- he was intellectually disgraced, and financially broken in his purse and in his spirit. Consequently, something happened to Keyes: his reasoning was weakened and his demeanor became spiteful and seemingly hateful. Now Keyes preaches the strange notion that Obaama is not the "real" president of the US because he was not born in this country and is therefore ineligible to be the president This. "I do not cal his president." The not born in this country myth is now a a religion to Keyes and a notion espoused by white extremists and a few others dreamers, even though they have seen his Hawaii birth certificate published and authenticated by the state of Hawaii . The tragedy in the Keyes case is that a once intelligent and well educated Black man would fall so far into disrepute and ignorance that he would accept the misguided ramblings of those who only mean him harm. This is a path that a number of seemingly stable Black Republicans take after a loss of their political status. Could it be that for some their political power is so much a part of them and so important to them that to lose it is to lose their individual identity, and the loss of political status has such a profound impact on them that that loss, although it is trivial in the eyes of others, to that person it has vast significance so that its absence takes away a major part or all of their worth and identity and they lose their identity as a person? some can not bear a loss and some cannot. For some, when the spotlight is not positioned on them they feel diminished and important as they once did. And for some that is intolerable, and they may become bitter, unseemly, or r negative toward others as a way; of garnering attention on themselves again. The vast majority of past power brokers transition into
other jobs without fanfare . There are a number of past political holders
and non political holders who are not handling their new found positions
well. ______
