Colin Powell takes partnership in  Silicon Valley's Venture Capitalist Firm

Last week it was reported that Colin Powell, former Secretary of State, will take a limited partnership with a Silion Valley venture capitalist firm, Kleiner, Perkins, Caufield & Byers.

This venture capitalist firm is the premiere venture capitalist firm in the nation, having ventured their capital in Google, AOL, Genentech, etc.

Powell said that he will not be an board member, but he will advise young companies in technologies and advise the firm in trends in emerging nations and emerging technologies.

Powell also said that he will still live in DC, but that he will be coming to California to advise and function in his new position. He will also be traveling overseas to vie for venture capitalist opportunities in China and India, both emerging technological giants.

Powell receives hefty speaking fees for his speeches, which he gives all over the world. And from the lucrative book money and the speaking fees he has received, he will, no doubt, be investing some of that money in some of these new companies with new technologies.

Gibbs wishes good fortune to Powell. However, his insistence that he will stay in the capitol may suggest that he is not totally out of the presidential race in 2008.
