Mirror-Gibbs Publications

MGP Mirror-Gibbs Publications is the
publishing arm of the Gibbs Community Foundation, a nonprofit, tax exempt organization in Oakland, CA. We publish well-written manuscripts of fiction, poetry, social commentary, or autobiographical works that are socially and commercially relevant. We also co-publish religious works with The Word of Truth Publications.

These manuscripts must be about the African American or the ethnic minority American experience.

We prefer well-written manuscripts by African American authors in California; however, authors from outside the
area may submit their manuscripts for consideration.

Submission Rules:
1.) All manuscripts must be complete and within Writers' Digest criteria; manuscripts, which do not conform to those criteria will be discarded.
2.) A summary letter must be submitted with your best chapter--if a novel, social commentary, or memoir;
3.) If poetry, submit your best five poems with the summary;
4.) Along with the summary and sample chapter, submit a biographical sketch;
5.) Always enclosed return, self-addressed envelope with postage for return of your manuscript materials;
6.) If MGP/WOTP is interested, we will ask you to submit the complete manuscript. Never submit the complete manuscript unless we request it.
7.) Why do you want this manuscript published? What social redeeming value does it have? And what would you do to promote the published book?
8.) Please state that you have seen and read our criteria.
