The Madness of  The Moment
--Some questions--

A 14-year old boy in Pennsylvania shot and killed a principal at a local school; immediately thereafter he killed himself inside a crowded school's cafeteria.

In Northern California (Richmond) a 12-year old boy still in elementary school was charged with sexually assaulting a 46-year old woman as she hiked on a Richmond trail. This 12-year boy was charged with four counts of sodomy and one count of attempted oral copulation.

A 61-year old Southern California daughter-in law was charged with killing her 84-year old father-in law and elder abuse.

It is worse still: a 40-year old Northern California mother was charged with incest as a result of having one baby with her 21-year old son and continuing to engage in sexual activities with him, even after a court ordered they not see each other.

Also in Northern California, a couple divorced after many years of marriage and one daughter. Since they had joint custody and they did not want the daughter to get harmed through long transporting from one parent house to the other, they bought contiguous houses. The father, who is now gay, lives in his house with his lover, while the mother, who is now a lesbian, lives in the her next door house with her lover.

Finally, also in Northern California, two men, unknown to each other, were married to their respective wives and had children by them, decided on sex change operations. The one was operated on and became a woman, and as a woman, he became a lesbian. The other man had an operation and became a woman, and his wife became a supposed lesbian to continue with him.

These are cases that appear to this writer as more than merely different; these are behaviors and actions beyond extreme. Yet I cite only a few out of many--some old and some new--not to make a particular point, but to pose questions.

I have seen the rise of the bizarre and weird of society take on a certain cache and vogue, (straight men allowing gay men to dress them to look gay and call that dress stylist has a certain cache today) and all the while masquerading as a certain type of normality or accepted diverse lifestyle--a lifestyle that society must tolerate and accept as normal or simply diverse. As a society accepts this diversity's existence, there seems to be a proliferation of psychologically harmful peculiarities in this society.

What prompts a child who, under normal circumstances, should only now be approaching puberty, but instead is forcefully raping and engaging in sexual acts with a woman old enough to be his mother; what prompts a mother to look upon the child of her own body with amorous desires and sleep with him as she would sleep with his father; what prompts a 14-year old child who has not lived long enough to even know life, yet to have such rage as to kill a school principal and then himself?

These aberrations are increasing in abnormality and frequency and becoming commonplace in this society. Shouldn't this growing and widespread deviant tendency alarm a nation, its people, its moralists, its pillars and foundations? And if there is no alarm, is that absence an indication that the ethical core of that nation is disintegrating or has disintegrated? Isn't this form of deviance as virulent to a people's survival as numerous 9-11 terrorist acts? How can any nation continue to have morality or ethics as a constituent of its corpus and not be alarmed by the unparalleled deviance seen daily? Will not the acceptance of this madness of the moment warp a people's perspective, blight their thoughts and reasoning, and contort the very core of their being?

Are not a sober and thoughtful people obligated to ask hard questions and duty bound to find well reasoned answers? Or should they behave even as the wind behaves and cast their children's future into that wind in a moment of madness and self-focus? []
