Republican-led
Administration is into War, but they are killing our children |

The Republican politicians, like most politicians, have no shame of how they came into the presidency. They have strongly taken over the reins of the government as if they were duly elected--a fact unquestionably not so. And since they were not, they have, in fact, taken the reins of the government like dictators who rise to power by overthrowing a duly elected government: Ruthlessly! Having taken over the reins of the US government, the cabal that calls itself the administration is acting in ways that will harm US interests, prestige, and US children for years to come. It is as if, after being shut out of the White House and the levers of power for eight years, they are trying to recoup all the wealth they missed and shared among themselves and activate all the untoward ideas they have been harboring for years and were unable to implement. Needless to say, Osama bin Laden and the terrorist act of September 11 presented the perfect scenario for getting the American people to buy into the extremist behavior of this administration as normal or reasonable. This administration is extremist in that it is taking actions in the name of this nation that abrogate international treaties and laws, it is positioning this nation as a pariah among the international community of nations, it is casting this nation as a colonial power many years after colonialism, imperialism, and supremacy have died hard deaths, it is getting us back into the arms-race, and it is coaxing the people of this nation to glory in military might as a way of determining what is right; yet our might is demonstrated over weaken nations, and we crow about that as if we have toppled the world's most powerful military. In the hurried air of an un-elected leader and soon to be deposed dictator, the Bush Administration is developing governmental patterns and systems that will be hard for a reasonable government, duly elected by the people to change. This nation is now testing nuclear weapons in a weapons-race with ourselves under the cloak of terrorism, the now ubiquitous catchall category for many undesirable and unwise actions; this nation has turned away from the non-proliferation treaty even while demanding that other nations without nuclear weapons not undertake a program to acquire them. And we threaten military attacks on all who do not conform to our wishes. This Administration has embarrassed this nation in the eyes of the world with its lack of diplomacy and its tactless and cavalier method of forcing its way on world bodies. And when those bodies or nations disagree, they are bullied and muscled by military and economic might. This administration is operating as if there is no tomorrow and that since we are today on top militarily we will be on top forever. Such a notion does not take into consideration all the factors that can come into play to produce an economically weak nation. And without a strong economy, there is no money for a trillion dollar military and research into nuclear and the myriad of other weapons of mass destruction we already have and are constantly developing. When our time comes, and it will come, who will be the recipients of the hostility of the nations of the world because of our current intemperate aggressive, hostile, and sullenness toward others? The children of America. Americans are allowing the Bush Administration to kill their children through imprudent actions that will resound back to us through our children. Regardless of current Republican thoughts and wild imaginations, which they so vociferously argue, no nation can remain on top of any game forever. The shifting sands of nations, the changing of the guard, the unmistakable cycle of life cannot be retarded or altered by the vaunted hopes and imaginations of a few or many. This rhythm of life is bigger and stronger than any nation, and since it is, prudent people plan and behave themselves accordingly. Our present set of unduly elected rulers, and they are rulers--Bush, Chaney, Rumsfeld, Wolfowitz, and Rice--are not prudent, and as a result, they have engaged in and are engaging in actions that will come back to haunt Americans throughout the world and throughout our history.
Prudent leadership cares about more than itself; it cares about its people
and its children. But when leaders only live for their moment and do not
care about their children, those leaders are heathens and fools. [] |
