The Association of California Community College (ACCCA)
Administrators awarded Edward J. Valeau the Harry Buttimer
Distinguished Administrator Award at their 31st annual conference
held in Glendale, CA.
Dr. Valeau, the president and superintendent
of the Hartnell Community College District has compiled an
illustrious 33 year career, serving as CEO of Hartnell College for over a
decade. His vision and leadership has helped bring in over $23
million in private and public grant money and helped earned the
community college a top 20 ranking in California for its faculty and
staff diversity.
The ACCCA represents the 108 California community colleges and is
dedicated to the advancement of administrators' rights. The Harry
Buttimer Award is annually bestowed upon a community college
CEO for demonstrating leadership, integrity and contribution to the
profession, college and community. The prestigious honor was named
after Harry Buttimer, former chancellor of the Contra Costa
Community College District.
Edward Valeau earned his Ed.D. from UC Berkeley’s School of
Education in 1983. Dr. Valeau is a board member of
Gibbs and has
been since its founding, 1989.
Gibbs salutes Dr. Valeau for his having been awarded the Harry
Buttiner Award by the ACCCA.
