Minister Ishmael Muhammad is the son of the Honorable Elijah Muhammad and Tynnetta Muhammad. He celebrated his 10th anniversary as assistant minister to the Minister Louis Farrakhan at Mosque Maryam. He sat down with The Final Call to reflect on the past 10 years.
This is a most interesting interview, especially since most of Elijah Muhammad's followers have gone with Wallace Muhammad, the oldest son of Elijah Muhammad. Furthermore, Wallace has transformed the Black Muslims into a normal Islamic religion, as opposed to a Black Nationalistic ideological organization that it was.
The younger Ishmael Muhammad may have been placed under Louis Farrakhan to capture some of the followers of Elijah Muhammad. Now after 10 years under Farrakhan, and in the light of Farrakhan's serious illness, he is being given light and voice to speak.
