Is discrimination still with us? 

The number of federal job discrimination complaints filed against employers went up more than four percent in 2002. That was the highest in seven years the EEOC reports. In actual numbers, they look like this: from 80,640 to 83, 529.

This increased number of complaints was attributed to the weak economy, an aging workforce, the multi-nationalization of our workforce and a backlash against seemingly non-national workers, the EEOC said.

But along with job discrimination complaints were religious complaints as well. The EEOC said that religious complaints increased by 21%.

We are told that we have a colorblind society and that discrimination does not exist so there is no need for affirmative action of any type. We are now to be based on the content of our characters rather than the color of our skin or the religious assembly and practices we are party to. I guess, we are not there yet.

But why is it that, ever at my black back I hear some of the same discrimination so near? Let someone, go tell this to the US Supreme Court, specifically to Clarence Thomas. And while that person is in the telling mood, whisper a word to deaf UC Regent, Ward Connerly. These two need to know these things, as they shout from their bully pulpits about ethnic affirmative action and not white affirmative action that is increasing each year. []
