The Democrats Make Us Fear:

________________
They Have No Strength of Conviction

Most Americans fear the Democrats are too weak to enact strong legislation to curb George Bush even though they voted for them. They fear that the Democrats do not have the strength of will to do the hard work they were sent to Congress to do, even though they campaigned that they would stop this Bush War that is killing thousands of innocent men, women, and children, and plundering the US treasury of billions of dollars!

And the Democrats have not allayed the fears of most Americans about them as of yet.

Nancy Pelosi, Speaker of the House, was highly lauded and applauded by most of America, including Black America, because she is thought to be a breath of fresh air in DC. For even white America has become tired of the failed and flawed behavior and policies of old white men running this nation into near disaster using some façade of American machismo that is totally void of intelligence; of course, George Bush is seen as the poster child or the  Neanderthal personification of American machismo that is void of intelligence or a sense of morality.

Although the Democrats control both houses of Congress, the Senate by a slim margin and the House by a healthy margin, they have only passed nonbinding resolutions to bring US troops home. Even those resolutions have been weakly passed. Their second action concerning the war has been to put timelines of withdrawal in a money bill, which Bush arrogantly announced before it arrived that he would veto. And he did. The third action the Democrats engaged in was to try to override the President’s veto. Finally, the President summoned them to the White House for dinner and told them, as you would tell little children who have done a bad thing, exactly what he wants in a bill—a clear bill according to his dictates.

Outside the White House—on Fox “News” Media—Dick Cheney was announcing to the world that the Democrats will back down and give the president the bill he wants or has  demands of them. This is where the American people who voted a Democratic Congress into office come in. It was because America is crippled  with George Bush for another two years and Congress has the funding power to stop this war or allow it to go on, they were voted Democrats into office to stop this war. That is what most of  America voted for.

What we have seen and may see yet again is a cowing of Democrats to Republicans. It is as if the Democrats are willing to submit themselves to the Republicans for fear of the Republicans' ability to place labels on Democrats and turn those labels into votes against Democrats. The Democrats seem to be afraid of the Republicans’ vicious campaign rhetoric and their winning elections even with flawed and unethical candidates who will do anything. And with all that fear that the Democratic Party has of the Republican Party, the American people, especially Black Americans, stand observing the Democratic Party's timidity and become afraid of them whom we voted for: Afraid they will not have the backbone, as our very impeachable Vice President Dick Cheney has said.

The Democrats were summoned to the George Bush White House to eat steaks and drink wine; they went. Will they now do the bidding of George Bush or the bidding of the American people? The power of this war is within the hands of Congress, not George Bush, and if they do not stop this “war game” of George Bush, the American people have been bamboozled again. And that is the reason we fear the Democrats--they have no strength of conviction! Or maybe they have no convictions worth standing and risking reelection for!
