WHAT DO YOU WANT FROM ME?
[Dating the Disabled]

by
Gary Norris Gray

You want me to act like a man, feel like a man, and love like a man,  cry like a man, yet you continually call me half a man.

Make up your mind for I have made up mine.

You want me to help you, listen to you, yet you cannot give me the love I need.

You want me to be SUPER FLY, SUPER BRAIN, SUPER NIGGER, and SUPER COUNSELOR, yet you did not even check my inner feelings, my inner thoughts.

Did you ask could I deal with it can or could I handle it??

Asking me about my dreams, my thoughts, my apparitions, of life would have been different.

This act would have showed me that you really cared and really wanted to know about my life.

Do you really care??

When you needed me I made it a point to be there

When you were in deep trouble I did my best.

You made me grow up faster than a child should ever have too

You made me think about very adult subjects, divorce, sex, and relationships.

You wanted me to be your big brother and never your lover

You wanted me to be sweet, quiet, and wait for your assistance.

You wanted me to never get mad. Don’t throw things, hold that temper. Be a nice disabled person don’t be upset

Things will go your way one day.

You wanted me to be a matchmaker yet nobody could match me

You wanted me to work MORE and get paid for less

YOU SAY I’M BLACK BUT I’M DISABLED

YOU SAY I’M DISABLED BUT I’M BLACK

It’s no fun living on the outskirts of both being accepted by none

The disabled would like to feel wanted, needed, and loved in the crazy mixed up world.

The disabled would love to have the respect and love that you give to other Americans.

The disabled would like to have a decent life

THINK BEFORE YOU SPEAK – LOVE BEFORE YOU ACT.

Make up your mind for I have.
