"What is the value of education?" Many who are unwilling to endure education's rigor asks. Information from the US Census Bureau is answering that question in terms of money. And, as we know, money is the purpose for many going to school.

The Census Bureau released information that showed the higher an American's education the more money he/she will make on a job over his/her life-time. They estimated that the different between a high school diploma and a medical degree is $3.2 million in a life time.

They further state that graduating from college and getting an graduate degree amount to about $4.4 million for doctors, lawyers, and other professions. This is an amount calculated over a life time of work. The normal life time of work is estimated between 25-64 year of age.

American education level is increasing for all Americans. In 2000 about 84% of adults between the ages of 25 and older had at least a high school education; 26% of Americans 25 and older had a bachelor's degree or more.

Education is costly, but once you have it you can pay the cost back. Although you will earn more over your life with an education, the most important aspect of education cannot be measured in money. []
