Former President Carter Willing to Say the Right Thing |

|
Former President and Nobel Peace Prize laureate, Jimmy Carter, last week stated things most Democrats are unwilling to beat home to the American people until the idea is solidified in the thinking of this brain-dead nation, namely this: "...As far as the adverse impact on the nation around the world, this administration has been the worst in history." Of course, such a statement makes no friends in this Bush White House, which is a primary source for America's mind-numbing and conscience-killing climate; as a nation, most people think that we are a good and peaceful people, which is factually far from the truth. But truth is not something this nation values much. The Democratic Party was sent to Congress in large numbers last election, but that party does not seem to have the courage to speak this truth that Mr. Carter now speaks. This harsh truth needs shouting from the rooftops and repeating over and over again until this nation rises up and says we will not allow a cabal of cowards to use other people's children to fight their malevolent wars and bring this shame and disrepute upon this nation under the banner of patriotism and machismo. The Democratic Party now in Congress has done well to earn the latest poll ratings that are lower than Bush's low numbers. This party was given Congress in the last election because there was no way to get rid of Bush, so the nation elected Democrats to Congress in large numbers to stop the Bush killing of innocent Iraqis; yet this party has done nothing other than pass nonbinding resolutions, talked negotiations and weakness with Bush. The Democrats have not mentioned the real power that is in their hands to stop this war any time they want to: the power of the purse; that is how the Vietnam War was stopped and that is the only way this war is going to be stopped! It is as if the Democrats and Republicans are in a conspiracy against the American people as they campaign on one theme and never implement that campaign theme. Both the Republicans and the Democrats have employed spin and deceptions to secure the American people's vote and then ignore their will once in office. Seemingly these conspirators believe that since they can (and do) opine an issue to death, and since their flawed opining convinces faint-of-mind Americans that these rascals are honest men and women, they actually believe their own lies as they depict themselves to be good, honest civil servants. During this time of "terrorism," Americans have become the most gullible of all people. They have left off all critical thought and skepticism of what public officials say and do; instead they march with fear-blinders on, as our public purveyors of fear tell us that the world is a very dangerous place, but never that we (USA) are the greatest danger in that dangerous world! On Bush's lapdog, Tony Blair, Carter was frank enough to say, "I think the almost undeviating support by Great Britain for the ill-advised policies of President Bush in Iraq have been a major tragedy for the world." Yes, it is almost unparallel that a former president would be so forthright in denouncing a current administration, but Bush/Cheney/Wolfowitz cabal has been so dangerous and deadly that unparallel statements and actions are needed. People are dying because of the malevolence of this group of dead-zone men. The malaise of political impotence that seems to be a sickness most often experienced by Democrats at crucial times, and that is the very reason the Democrats can not stay in power. And since this nation does not have an operative democratic system, the American people have no other choices than the repugnant Republicans who seem to have lying, cheating, and immorality in their political veins! So although Carter is without power to change things in this administration, at least he is speaking forcefully against the indignities and incompetence of this Bush administration for world domination. Of course, the administration's spokeswoman responded that Carter, a former president, a world class leaders, and a Nobel Prize laureate is becoming irrelevant. Not hardly; finally Americans with world recognition are beginning to call this Bush White House what it is: a danger to world peace and a callous killer of innocent people. No other Democrats seemingly have the fortitude to do so. President Carter is willing to risk his reputation and prestige to try to bring a stop to the killing, but most Americans with no such status as his are not willing to risk the little they have to change the moral character of this nation. There is a caveat that should be considered about President Carter's words and actions: there are a few good people who are willing to whisper and some to shout against the brutish nature of this nation's action--historically and currently--but they are not enough to represent the critical masses of the nation. The critical mass of this nation will tolerate the injustices they inflict upon others for far too long before those injustices are are registered on their consciences as wrong and need correcting. Dr. King has rightly written and spoken, "The moral arch of the universe is long, but it bends toward justice." This is the abiding faith of all clear-thinking and honest human beings; this is the truth that will catch up with those unwilling to raise their hands to stop the atrocities done in their name, with their money, and their blessings. Resultantly, America's come-uppins will come sooner than they think, and most Americans better hope as one US Iraqi War veteran said, I hope I will be dead when it does; it will be horrible because of all the horrible things we have done to others around this world and justified them with a wicked reasoning used to kill people and plunder their lands! Americans have no idea what horrible things we have done in their name. Simond Griote
