AMERICAN COUP-d’ETAT

The question remains did President Jean-Bertrand Aristide departed his homeland of Haiti did he leave under his own power or was he forced out by American Military and American political pressure? This event has all of the earmarks of an illegal forced ousting of a democratically elected president. Such an event should have started impeachment proceedings of President of the United States but the voices in America are silent. The current American foreign policy states that no one in The United States government nor any government officials can participate in any political assassination or military coups. My fellow Americans, our president and his administration broke this long-standing rule. America and Americans should be supporting the democratic state of Haiti.

Two weeks ago Americans watched the big blue and white 747 airliner departed from Toussant Airport, Port-au-Prince, Haiti, with the former President of Haiti on board, at the same time, American military aircraft landed at Port-au-Prince Airport across town. Another tragic event in the American hemisphere!!!

The American Armed Forces now occupy the streets of Haiti. They also occupy Baghdad, Kabul, Riyadh, Seoul, Taipei, Tokyo, Manila, Berlin, London, Monrovia, Managua, and Panama, etc, etc, etc. The American military strength is growing weaker with every military action around the world. Men and woman who serve in the National Guard and Reserves are becoming full time soldiers in this effort. These brave (Men and Woman) soldiers are not trained or equipped to do the job assigned. It is not fair to these weekend warriors nor is it fair to the countries they are defending. This is really a job requiring trained military personnel that have battle experience. The question is: Are these young men and woman defending freedom or American corporate greed?

The Bush Administration has once again ignored all advice from other allies and now is now sending troops into the beleaguered nation of Haiti. The Bush Cabinet also ignored advice given by former United States Representative Ron Dellums (Oakland-Berkeley), who is now the top lobbyist in Washington for Haiti. Month’s earlier Mr. Dellums stated that Haiti needed and wanted food and monetary assistance. He also stated that America has to give Haiti a definite and clear message. However, this administration needs to decide if it will assist this poor country or leave it alone. President Aristide repeatedly requested aid to fight the drug cartel in Port-au-Prince. There was no response from Washington our government just continues to waffle and dodge Haitian economic issues in 2003 and 2004. This creates chaos in a country and has caused the Aristide government to become unstable.

Two weeks ago the Bush Administration created another political blunder. They sent American troops where they thought it would be in the best interest of America without adequate military planning. This is just the continuation of the present Administration’s use of force instead of using the delicate skills of diplomacy.

Tanks, warships, bullets, and bombs are destructive weapons that destroy people. It also makes the world a fearful and threatening place to live.

Good diplomacy never destroys human life, nor does it destroy buildings, infrastructure, or political stability. Good diplomacy can only build good relationships with foreign nations.

For many years the current American administration wanted President Aristide to step down. The United States Marines and Navy accomplished this goal by escorting President Aristide and six other Haitian Nationals to the airport where they boarded an unknown carrier for a flight to Central Africa.

Now not only will we (America) be forced to rebuild Afghanistan and Iraq, but will also have to extend a helping hand to Haiti especially after the unexpected exit of President Aristide.

Again we are seeing POLITICAL BLACKMAIL by this administration.

Some one should ask this current Administration, when are we going to rebuild America’s inner cities? That is just another issue that needs to be dealt with another time?

The Black Caucus is now questioning the Bush Administration’s actions taken in Port-au Prince. President Aristide made numerous telephone calls to African-American leaders pleading his case. The fact that he was forced to leave the country has started several investigations. However America seems to be disinterested in the matter and is willing to let these illegal actions rest. Do we really want a rouge state in our hemisphere? Are we going back to the 1950’s and the 1960’s cold war era?

America has no military equivalent in the world today. The EVIL EMPIRE was defeated 15 years ago. So why did the Bush Administration push President Aristide out of Haiti?

One has to determine whom to believe? Will it be President Aristide, or Secretary of State Colin Powell? Mr. Powell stated that The United States had nothing to do with the ousting of Haiti’s leader. The United States did have an on going conversation with both the Haitian Rebels and the Aristide Government.

The George W. Bush credibility gap looms larger and larger with each passing day because the American administration is now saying that no government official is or was discussing anything with the Haitian rebels.

In 2000 after the big Bush Jr. Presidential Party in Washington D.C. American policies reverted back to (George Bush Sr.) political view of Haiti. A necessary nuisance, meaning that the United States had to help a country and leader that we do not like nor want in power. A country that had to be dealt with American force, using military force to command American’s will, American politics, and American economic values.

The Bush Doctrine of putting all multilateral development assistance on hold, thus creating an economic hardships on the Aristide government. This lead to uprisings and rebellion by the poor Haitian citizens thus creating a vast breeding ground for gangland drug leaders, thugs, and malcontents to buy their way into the new Haitian political structure.

In 1991 President George Hubert Walker Bush Sr. reinstated President Aristide after the first attempted Haitian coup-d’teat. Bush Sr. cited Haiti as the only true democracy in the Caribbean but he attached many strings to this appointment.

President Clinton also helped the Aristide government in 1994 because of Haiti’s stand on human rights during the Clinton era. American military forces helped Mr. Aristide to become President of Haiti. That too had a price to be paid later. Reluctantly diplomacy was gained at the butt end of a gun. The Republican Party keeps reminding everyone about 1991-1996 the Aristide government threats on Haitian judges, police personnel, the military, and many different county legislators’ supporters. These actions are unacceptable to most Americans.

Now the question remains: How much power and force did the United States use two weeks ago to remove President Aristide? What was the extent of American military and monetary sent to the well-armed Haitians Rebels in the mountainsides? Is this just another case of a Caribbean-Sandinista and Contra scandal?

This kind of foreign policy must cease because we (America) are making more enemies then friends.

THAT IS THE GRAYLINE!
