Dear Editor: I am writing to acknowledge the work of Maurice Graham while in Ghana, W. Africa. As Director of Project Africa, I have traveled to Liberia, Ghana and Nigeria W. Africa during the past five years. Often you meet individuals who would, under normal circumstances, say they cannot give of their time and talents, then you meet someone as unique as Maurice Graham. Despite the health challenges he has faced living with HIV/AIDS for the past 17 years, his courage and commitment to making a difference is to be commended. During the recent trip to Ghana W. Africa, Maurice gave of himself unselfishly. My thanks to the Gibbs Community Foundation for your support of Mr. Graham in making a difference in the lives of thousands of members of the African American community and our extended family in sub Sahara Africa. Sincerely, [Editor's Note: Maurice Graham is an extraordinary individual. He demonstrates to the willfully ignorant and the unwilling that one must use what he has, and if a person is willing to do that, there is no end to the possibilities. He alone, not Gibbs, deserves all the honors for his effort that went into his African Campaign and to his work back here--he still carries on a fight against AIDS here, in our local community! I am personally saddened because many of us are doing
so little, and he is doing so much alone! Maurice has one closure report; Gibbs is trying to secure him to write a regular column on AIDS and other related matters--matters we need to know about. Kudos from Gibbs to Maurice Graham, a brother who is fighting the fight beyond himself for us all! Also, thank you, Dr. Griffin, for what you too are doing to fight this deadly disease. Blessings be upon both of you.]
